15th Annual Meeting

September 23-25, Safford

The Safford area embodies this year’s theme, Sky Islands and Desert Waters. The Pinaleño Mountains’ Sky Islands top 10,700 as roads and trails meander through chaparral, oak woodlands, Ponderosa pines, and spruce-fir forests. The surrounding lowlands below 3,000 include a plethora of lakes and ponds dotted through grassland habitats and the transition between the Sonoran and Chihuahuan deserts.

The meeting will be held at Eastern Arizona College's Discovery Park Campus in Safford.

The weekend will start with mini-field expeditions to area birding spots on Friday afternoon, followed by a social hour meet-and-greet.

The Saturday, September 24 session will feature presentations and posters on birdlife in Arizona capped by a dinner with keynote speaker, Rick Taylor. More field expeditions to birding spots in the area will be led on Sunday. More details will be forthcoming here.

Both members and nonmembers are welcome. Consider joining AZFO today.
