Eastern Kingbird (Tyrannus tyrannus), Gilbert Water Ranch, Maricopa County

This Eastern Kingbird was initially discovered on 12 September 2020 by Chrissy Kondrat-Smith and photographed by Levi Plummer on 14 September 2020

This species is casual in Maricopa County but the second bird at this location in two weeks (see the first one here). In Arizona it is a rare but somewhat regular (annual) migrant. Late August and early September is the best time of the year for this species in the state.

Distinctive with dark cap, dark gray upperparts, nearly pure white underparts, and white-tipped tail.
