apparent Cinnamon X Blue-winged Teal, Gilbert Water Ranch, Maricopa County

From Birds of North America [Wild hybrids of Cinnamon Teal x Blue-winged Teal (only males recognizable as hybrids from plumage characteristics) observed in many areas where the breeding ranges of these species overlap (Anderson and Miller 1953, Harris and Wheeler 1965, Connelly 1977, Bolen 1978, 1979, Weseloh and Weseloh 1979). Wild hybrids of Cinnamon Teal x Northern Shoveler also reported; fertile hybrids with both of these species confirmed (Johnsgard 1978). In captivity, hybrids with Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos), Red Shoveler, Garganey, Baikal Teal (A. formosa), Green-winged Teal, and Speckled Teal (A. flavirostris) (Philips 1926, Johnsgard 1978).]
