Aztec Thrush (Ridgwayia pinicola), Madera Canyon, Pima County

Aztec Thrush is a casual late fall and summer visitor to Arizona from Mexico. It is accidental in spring and winter. Beginning in late November 2007 there were intermittent reports of a single Aztec Thrush along the Old Baldy Trail in upper Madera Canyon but it went undocumented until seen and photographed on 5 January 2008 by Isah Webb. The only prior winter record is of a single bird eating pyracantha berries at Cave Creek Ranch, Portal in January 25-February 3, 1991.

Photos and written details submitted to the Arizona Bird Committee for this Review Species.
