Wood Thrush (Hylocichla mustelina), Cave Creek, Chiricahuas, Cochise County

This Wood Thrush was discovered by Martin Myers and photographed by Matthew Brooks on 04 December 2005.

At the time of this sighting, there were 17 accepted records of Wood Thrush for Arizona, most as a transient. There is only one previous winter record but there are a couple of late November records.

The dark, regular, oval spotting on the breast is characteristic of Wood Thrush as is the bright rufous head which can just be made out in this photo.
