Thick-billed Kingbird (Tyrannus crassirostris), Wenima Wildlife Area, Apache County

A first record for Northern Arizona and Apache County, this Kingbird was found at Wenima Wildlife area on 28 May 2007. In Arizona Thick-billed Kingbird is regular as far north as Hassayampa Preserve in Maricopa County. Tyranids are known to wander and Thick-billed Kingbirds have been found as vagrants as far north as British Columbia (once), and casually to Northern California.
