Red-headed Woodpecker (Melanerpes erythrocephalus), Forest behind Little America Hotel, Coconino County

This Red-headed Woodpecker was discovered by Terry Pollock on 09 June 2021 and photographed by Jason Wilder the same day.

There are less than 10 records of this species in Arizona, with one or two prior records in Coconino County (1996 and 1998).

Unmistakable adult. Fully red head, white underparts, striking black and white wings.
