Common Crane (Grus grus), Railroad Wash Road, Duncan, Greenlee County

This Common Crane was photographed by Adrian Smith on 13 February 2021.

This adult bird was in with Sandhill Cranes. It is possible that this individual is the same individual that was located at Willcox 27-28 November 2020. Distinctive patterned species. Larger than Sandhill Crane with distinct black and white patterned head, black throat, and overall lighter gray coloration in direction comparison with Sandhills. In flight, darker inner primaries and broader, more contrasty dark tipping to secondaries also evident.
