Northern Shrike (Lanius excubitor), Sedona wetlands, Yavapai County

This Northern Shrike was found and photographed by Sam Hough and Steve Hosmer on 02 November 2019

Northern Shrikes are rare and declining winter visitors to northern Arizona.

Distinguished from the similar Loggerhead Shrike by the barred underparts, browner back, pale base to the bill, and thinner black mask.
