Harris's Sparrow (Zonotrichia querula), Dead Horse Ranch State Park, Yavapai County

These two Harris's Sparrows were found on the Jerome CBC on 16 December 2018 and were photographed by Michael Snively on 07 March 2019. A single Harris's Sparrow has wintered at this location for several years.

Rare transient and winter visitor in Arizona.

Both show the large, pinkish-orange bill and whitish underparts with dark brown smudgy markings along the flanks. The head is sandy brown with varying amounts of black on the crown, throat, and breast.
