Diluted Ring-necked Duck (Aythya collaris), El Rio Preserve, Pima County

This diluted Ring-necked Duck was found and photographed by Andrew Core on 19 October 2018

Conditions causing diluted plumage, such as leucism, other genetic factors, and progressive graying, are relatively uncommon in ducks. Note the similar shape among all the Ring-necked Ducks in the photo, and the white band at the base of the bill.
