White-rumped Sandpiper (Calidris fuscicollis), Gilbert Water Ranch, Maricopa County

This White-rumped Sandpiper was found and photographed by Sean Fitzgerald on 03 July 2018

First Maricopa record and first July record of the species for AZ. Casual in late spring with 16 prior accepted records and one pending.

Large peep with long primary projection, sparse thin streaks along flank, moderate length slightly decurved beak, and completely clean white rump visible while in flight.
