Northern Cardinal x Pyrrhuloxia (Cardinalis cardinalis X C. sinuatus), Sonoita Creek State Natural Area, Santa Cruz County

This Northern Cardinal x Pyrrhuloxia hybrid was found and photographed by Alan Schmierer on 18 January 2016

Few documented records of this hybrid combination, although this is the third one documented to the AZFO pages.  

Similar to a Pyrrhuloxia, but with a straighther culmen and red orange bill, black face mask, and shorter crest.
