Herring Gull (Larus argentatus), Butcher Jones at Saguaro Lake, Maricopa County

A regular visitor to the Lower Colorado River Valley, rare fall and winter visitor in the state away from there.

2nd cycle individual (2 years old) large bill with extensive pink base, pale eye, pale gray coming on on the mantle, fine dark checkered marks on the paler coverts.
