Brant (Branta bernicla), Amado WTP, Pima County

This Brant was found by Laurens Halsey and photographed by Laurens Halsey and Jim Hays on 16 November 2015

Brant is usually strictly coastal and confined to salt water. It is very rare in Arizona with only 14 previous documented reports state wide and 4 of which were from southeast Arizona. .

Fairly distinct if seen well. White neck marking is diagnostic. The amount of white on the neck as well as the black underparts indicate this is a "Black" Brant.
