Red-throated Loon (Gavia stellata), Glen Canyon, Coconino County

This Red-throated Loon was found and photographed by Gerry Nealon on 09 October 2015

Casual late fall through winter visitor to Arizona though recently it has been annual, particularly along the lower Colorado River. This is a first county record for Coconino County, as well as being early.

Upturned bill and pale gray head and throat lacking sharp contrast between head, neck and throat
