Long-tailed Duck (Clangula hyemalis), Snowflake, Navajo County

These Long-tailed Ducks were found by Nick and Connie Worth and photographed by Connie Worth on 02 January (single bird) and 03 January (two birds) 2015, and by Anita Strawn de Ojeda on 04 January 2015.

Rare but annual late fall and winter visitor to the state.

Small duck with contrasting and variable dark and white pattern, plus small bill. In winter, typically has white face and large dark smudge on side of upper neck.
