Pacific Loon (Gavia pacifica), Black Canyon Lake, Navajo County, AZ, Navajo County

This Pacific Loon was discovered and photographed by Gordon Karre on 13 October 2012

Casual transient and winter visitor. 

Smooth and rounded head along with a straight and slim bill which is indicative of a loon. Bird appears to have a chin strap which is diagnostice, pale gray head and back of neck, leading to a sharp contrast with the white in the front of the neck.
