White-eared Hummingbird (Hylocharis leucotis), Beatty's Guest Ranch, Miller Canyon, Cochise County

This White-eared Hummingbird was discovered on 28 May 2012 by two unidentified birders and reported to Mr. Beatty, Sr.  It was photographed by Charles Melton on 29 May 2012.

Seen at Beatty's CAS viewing area from 6:45-8am. Appears to be an immature male. Very active chasing other birds. Often perched in trees above feeders.

White-eared Hummingbird is a rare summer resident in the mountains of Southeastern Arizona.

The extremely prominent, bright white eyebrow of both sexes of the White-eared Hummingbird is unmistakable.
