Hudsonian Godwit (Limosa haemastica), Lake Cochise, Cochise County

This Hudsonian Godwit was found by Mark Stevenson and Molly Pollock on 22 May 2012.  It was photographed by Laurens Halsey, Christie Van Cleve and Chris Benesh on 22 May 2012 and by Arlene Ripley on 23 May 2012.

Five previous records, four of those from Willcox.  The last in 1996.

White band at base of tail and white wing stripe distinguish Hudsonian from Marbled(and Bar-tailed)Godwit. Contrasting underwing pattern (light flight feathers, dark coverts) distinguish this species from the even less likely Black-tailed Godwit.
