hybrid Flame-colored X Western Tanager (Piranga bidentata X P. ludoviciana), Miller Canyon, Cochise County

This hybrid Flame-colored X Western Tanager was discovered and photographed by Joe Woodley on 21 April 2012. It found near the old mine entrance in Miller Canyon in an area heavily impacted by last summer's Monument Fire

Hybrid Flame-colored X Western Tanagers have been reported from Miller Canyon for at least the last few years.

Hybrid Flame-colored X Western Tanager differs from pure Flame-colored Tanager in that it has a bright rump and is less orange.
