Bell's Vireo (Vireo bellii), Tohono Chul Park, Pima County

This Bell's Vireo was photographed by Philip Kline on 13 February 2012

Either a wintering bird or an extremely early migrant. Accidental in winter.  Common breeding bird, but earliest migrants don't typically arrive until the first week of March.

Stout bill. Weak, broken eye ring. One bright and one faint wing bar.  Plain gray plumage overall with faint wash of yellow on flanks and breast and dull olive tones above. Other vireos with wing bars have complete eyerings or spectacles.
