Barrow's Goldeneye (Bucephala islandica), Bill Williams River NWR, Mohave County

This Barrow's Goldeneye was photographed by Jim Lawrence on 21 November 2011

Locally fairly common at traditional wintering locations along the Colorado River, very rare elsewhere in Arizona

The Barrow's Goldeneye can be told by the very steep forehead, the black mark reaching the water at the shoulder and by the crescent shaped white spot on the face.
