Golden-winged Warbler (Vermivora chrysoptera), Pena Blanca Lake, Santa Cruz County

This Golden-winged Warbler was discovered by Ginny Seabrook and Sonja Ladouceur on 17 October 2011 and photographed by Mark Sharon, Laurens Halsey, and Jerome Smith the following day.

This warbler is a casual visitor to the state, with about two dozen previous records.

Note the yellow on the wings and crown, the dark mask and throat, and the whitish underparts.
