American Golden-Plover (Pluvialis dominica), Lake Cochise, Willcox, Cochise County

This American Golden-Plover was discovered by Michael Lester and Chris McCreedy and photographed by Chris McCreedy on 23 October 2011. Also photographed by Arlene Ripley and Lois Manowitz 25 October 2011.

Rare transient throughout Arizona.

Separating Pacific and American Golden-Plover can be tricky. This bird has the long wings and short tertials typical of American Golden-Plover, the expected species in Arizona.
