Rufous-backed Robin (Turdus rufopalliatus), Santa Cruz Flats, Pinal County

This Rufous-backed Robin was discovered by Richard Fray and Laura Stewart and photographed by Richard Fray on 16 January 2011.

Rare but seemingly regular winter visitor to southern Arizona with several usually reported every year.

Rusty back and upper wing coverts, dark streaking on mostly white throat, orange bill, and lack of white arcs around eye separate this species from American Robin.
