Yellow-bellied Sapsucker (Sphyrapicus varius), Phantom Ranch, Grand Canyon National Park, bottom of the Grand Canyon, Coconino County

This Yellow-bellied Sapsucker was discovered and photographed by John West on 21 October 2010.

Rare fall transient and winter visitor.  A few reported every year.

The other sapsuckers molt into adult plumage by September.  Any immature sapsucker after that time is a Yellow-bellied.
