Horned Grebe (Podiceps auritus), Glendale Recharge Ponds, Maricopa County

This Horned Grebe was discovered by Charles Babbitt and Bob Witzeman on 17 October 2010 and photographed by Charles Babbitt on the same day. 

Rare migrant and winter visitor. 

Pure white neck and cheek contrasting sharply with dark crown.  White tip to bill.  Note also the difference in head shape compared to the three Eared Grebes.
