Dickcissel (Spiza americana), At my backyard feeding station in Vail., Pima County

This Dickcissel was discovered and photographed by Jeff Babson on 14 November 2009 at his backyard feeder.

Dickcissels are a rare fall migrant in Arizona, usually passing through the state from late August to early October.  They are accidental after October.

This individual appears to be a female based on the absence of the black bib found in males. This bird shows the yellow breast patch and supercilium and chestnut wing patch that help identify the species.
