Prothonotary Warbler (Protonotaria citrea), Roger Road WRF, Pima County

This Prothonotary Warbler was discovered by Scott Olmstead on 13 October 2009 and photographed by Andrew Core on 14 October 2009.  Presumably the same bird was photographed by David Quanrud on 18 October 2009 at Sweetwater Wetlands hidden pond across the street.  Prothonotary Warblers have been reported repeatedly in both Sweetwater and Roger Road in September and October and it hard to know how many different birds are involved.

Prothonotary Warbler is a rare transient in Arizona but occurs every year.

The plain yellow head, grayish wings and white undertail coverts that are diagnostic for this species.
