Orchard Oriole (Icterus spurius), Tolleson, Maricopa County

This Orchard Oriole was discovered and photographed by Bill Grossi on 18 October 2009 in his backyard.  It was bathing next to a Cassin's Finch.

Orchard Oriole is a casual transient in Arizona, mostly in late spring and summer with a few winter records.

Small size, bright green color, especially the undertail coverts and small, relatively straight bill separate this bird from an immature Hooded Oriole.
