Dickcissel (Spiza americana), Gilbert Water Ranch, Maricopa County

This Dickcissel was first discovered by John Alcock on 26 September 2009. It was photographed by Richard Catero on 29 September 2009.

Dickcissel is a rare fall migrant to Arizona. It has been widely reported this year, as it was last year, so perhaps it is increasing.

In this plumage it is easily told by the yellow on the face.
