White-eared Hummingbird (Hylocharis leucotis), Madera Canyon, Pima County

This White-eared Hummingbird was discovered by Celine Blouin and reported by Gavin Bieber on 4 May 2009.  It was photographed by Laurens Halsey on 07 May 2009.

White-eared Hummingbird is a rare summer resident in the mountains of Southeastern Arizona. Individuals were reported and photographed in early May 2008 at this same location.

The extremely prominent, bright white eyebrow of both sexes of the White-eared Hummingbird is unmistakable.
