Summer Tanager (Piranga rubra ), Wellton, Yuma County

This Summer Tanager is one of two first seen by Paul Lehman on 8 Feb 09 in a yard west of Wellton. This photo was taken by Henry Detwiler on 16 February 2009.

Summer Tanager is casual in winter in Arizona and they are quite rare along the Lower Colorado and Gila River Valleys in the winter with only a couple of winter reports in the last ten years.
