Sinaloa Wren (Thryothorus sinaloa) nest, TNC Patagonia-Sonoita Creek Preserve, Santa Cruz County

The Sinaloa Wren that was discovered in Patagonia on 25 August 2008 by Matt Brown and Robin Baxter and has been present continuously ever since.  It is a potential first record for the ABA area.

Many male wrens built numerous dummy nests on their territory to attract females.  Females probably evaluate the quality of the male by how many nests he builds.  This Sinaloa Wren has now built at least two and maybe three different nests but no female has been detected so far.  This photo was taken on 7 May 2009 by Robin Baxter at the first nest discovered.
