Harris's Sparrow (Zonotrichia querula), Flagstaff, Coconino County

This Harris's Sparrow was originally found by Troy Blodgett on January 26th, 2009. The bird was photographed at the same location that it was originally found, in the Timberline neighborhood approximately 7 miles north of Flagstaff off the west side of highway 89. Photos were taken on January 30th by Brooks Hart and on 2 February 2009 by Troy Blodgett.

Harris's Sparrow is a casual transient and winter visitor throughout the state.

Field marks include: pink bill, dark triangular auricular patch on light brown head, white belly and throat, with brown bib. These marks indicate that this is a first winter bird.
