Streak-backed Oriole (Icterus pustulatus), private residence, Patagonia Lake, Santa Cruz County

This Streak-backed Oriole was discovered and photographed by Alan Schmierer on 11 June 2011 at the feeders at his house.  He photographed it on 11 and 12 June 2011.

Streak-backed Oriole occurs less than annually in southern Arizona and once in northern Arizona. Nests have been discovered near Dudleyville and Marana.  There are 15 accepted records with 3 others pending with the Arizona Bird Committee. 

Heavy-based straight bill with black on underside of lower mandible, brightest "orange" on the face and particularly the malar region, white edging to the wing feathers,orange back with black streaks.
