Rufous-backed Robin (Turdus rufopalliatus), st david monastery, cochise co az, Cochise County

This Rufous-backed Robin was discovered by Arlene Ripley on 1 January 2011 and photographed by Tony Battiste on 08 January 2011.

Rare but seemingly regular winter visitor to southern Arizona with several usually reported every year.

Rusty back and upper wing coverts, dark streaking on mostly white throat, orange bill, and lack of white arcs around eye separate this species from American Robin.
